Radio Resource Management (RRM)

Radio resource management (RRM) – This covers all functions related to the radio bearers, such as radio bearer control, radio admission control, radio mobility control, scheduling and dynamic allocation of resources to UEs in both uplink and downlink.


Radio Resource Control (RRC)

System information Broadcast,Connection Management, Security Management, Configuration Management of PDCP, RLC, MAC, Physical layer, Performs neighbor cell and cell selection/reselection, measurement configuration, Manages UE-assisted, network-controlled Mobility (Handover).


Packet Data convergence Protocol (PDCP)

Control and User Plane Supported

For transfer of upper layer PDUs to lower layer performs sequence numbering,integrity protection,ciphering for Control plane and sequence numbering,header compression,ciphering,routing for user plane

For transfer of lower layer PDUs to upper layer performs deciphering,integrity verification for control plane and deciphering,re-ordering,header decompression, in order delivery,duplicate detection for user plane


Radio Link Control (RLC)

Transparent Mode (TM),Acknowledged Mode (AM),Unacknowledged Mode (UM)supported.

For transfer of upper layer PDUs to lower layer performs Concatenation, segmentation for AM and UM and additionally re-segmentation, indication of successful delivery of upper layers PDUs for AM,updates resource requirement for transfer

For transfer of lower layer PDUs to upper layer performs duplicate detection, reordering, reassembly for AM and UM,error correction through ARQ for AM


Medium Access Control (MAC)

For transfer of upper layer PDUs to lower layer performs radio resource allocation to RLC,Logical Channel prioritisation, Multiplexing, Mapping between logical channels and transport channels, Error correction through HARQ, Scheduling information reporting, Random access procedure, BSR, Radio Resource Selection and Transport Format Selection for sidelink

For transfer of lower layer PDUs to upper layer performs error correction through HARQ, De-Multiplexing, Mapping between logical channels and transport channels


Radio Physical Layer (L1)

Proprietary API to interact with RRM,RRC and MAC for intergration with third party components
